In Memoriam: Mari Powers (1956-2026) 

Mari Chandra Powers was born on September 14, 1956.  She died at her Wisconsin home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from cancer.

Mari, also known as Rev. Mari Powers, was a longtime Circle Sanctuary Community Member and Minister.  Mari was a poet, chantsinger, ritualist, teacher, and writer.

Mari worked in the Circle Sanctuary office for several years and contributed writings to Circle Network News, Circle Magazine, and other Circle Sanctuary publications.  Mari did prison ministry work and also was active in interfaith and intrafaith networking.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Mari helped develop the childcare/family center and programming at Pagan Spirit Gathering (PSG), Circle Sanctuary's week long national celebration of Summer Solstice.  Over the years, Mari facilitated rituals and presented workshops at PSG and other Circle Sanctuary gatherings and events.

In addition, Mari taught workshops and facilitated rituals at Pagan Pride Days, at metaphysical shops, and other events.  Mari was part of the Feri tradition and a member at large with Covenant of the Goddess.

Mari was a well known Tarot and Oracle Cards reader and teacher in Wisconsin and beyond.  She did readings at Mimosa  and Cosmic Delights in Madison, Wisconsin and online.

We are thankful for Mari, her bright creative spirit, her loving presence, her great sense of humor, and her social justice activism.  We celebrate and give thanks for her many contributions to Circle Sanctuary, Pagan Spirit Gathering, the Craft, Feminist Spirituality, and Paganism.   

MEMORIAL & BURIAL
A memorial celebration of life and burial is being planned by Rev. Selena Fox and others for Circle Cemetery at Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve near Barneveld, Wisconsin USA in May 2026.  She also will be remembered during the Ceremony of Remembrance at this year's Pagan Spirit Gathering in June in the Wisconsin North woods.
