Sandy "Artisfair" Kucyk, born October 4, 1948, died on Monday, March 12, 2018 in Illinois of cancer.

Sandy was a member of Circle Sanctuary and served as Co-Coordinator of the Crone Temple of Wisdom at Circle Sanctuary's annual weeklong Summer Solstice celebration, Pagan Spirit Gathering.

She loved her husband, John, her four children, Robert, Christine, Tanya, and John, her 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She had many friends she cared about deeply and took great pride in her work as a nurse, a hospital administrator, co-founder of a home health business in Chicago that she retired from just a few months ago, and a respected elder in her church, where she helped guide senior women as they embraced their lives as elders.  She was a very special woman. 

Her oldest child, Robert, wrote the following:  "I realize now how lucky I was to have her as a mom. She dropped out of high school and got a job to support me. She never gave up and worked hard to put herself through school. Working two jobs and going to school she became a nurse and eventually became a director at many medical facilities. She was always happy energetic and compassionate. Never asking for anything and always giving her all. A friend once said when you met her she made you feel as if you were part of the family and she knew you for years.  She was a shinning light in our family and every ones favorite.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren could not wait to see her and they adored her. Our family and friends will have a big hole to fill. She was the center of our world and I will miss her so very much. I love you mom!"

Sandy was painfully honest and did not bother with those who took advantage of others, regardless of their status or situation.  She forgave freely when asked, demanded honesty from her friends, and strove to be a worthy role model for those whose lives she impacted.  

I hope that we will all try to be the people she wanted us to be - strong, peaceful, and ready warriors for those who need a good laugh, help, a kind word, a naughty innuendo, or a shoulder to rest a weary heart upon.  We will enjoy and celebrate life as she did - big smile on her face, a ready hand to help, and a sassy attitude striding through life like the Crone Goddess herself.
