In Memoriam: Chandler James Jarlsberg (1995 - 2018)

chandler-jarlsbergChandler James Jarlsberg was born on December 10, 1995 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to James and Cheryl (Fritsch) Jarlsberg. More about his life and loved ones is included in his obituary.

While attending Malcolm Shabazz High School in Madison, Wisconsin, he took a class on green cemeteries and natural burial and visited Circle Cemetery on a class field trip.  Chandler enjoyed being in Nature and exploring natural areas.  

Chandler died in a traffic accident on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.  A celebration of his life was held at Lake Ripley Park in Cambridge, Wisconsin on the afternoon of Saturday, May 19, 2018. 

A natural burial and graveside memorial ceremony for Chandler will be held at Circle Cemetery on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 1pm - 5 pm.  

Arrivals begin at 1 pm with a visitation in the assembly hall from 1 - 2 pm.  Those attending the visitation will have the opportunity to write a note of farewell and place it in the casket.  

A short orientation on natural burial will be held at 2 pm and immediately followed by a walking procession to the burying grounds of the cemetery, where the interfaith graveside memorial and natural burial will be facilitated by Rev. Selena Fox, senior minister of Circle Sanctuary.

Those attending are invited, but not required, to assist in the natural burial.  

During the hour following the conclusion of the burial, those attending will have the opportunity to go on self-guided Nature walks in memory of Chandler on trails at the 200 acre Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve where Circle Cemetery is located.

Those planning to attend the memorial and burial are encouraged to wear clothes appropriate for the weather and comfortable shoes for the processional walk on the field road to the cemetery.

Please arrive by 1:45 pm, and if possible bring one or more fresh flowers to place on the grave at the conclusion of the ceremony.  Those wishing to sit during the graveside memorial are encouraged to bring a portable lawn chair or camping chair.

Because the cemetery is part of a Nature preserve with abundant wildlife, no dogs or other animal companions are permitted.
