EARTH DAY SCHEDULE

10 am Opening Ritual
Gather at the May Pole for our welcoming ceremony. Make yourself at home as we meet fellow festival goers, raise some energy and learn about the day ahead.
10:30 - 11:30 am

Herb Walk with Meredith
Join herbalist Meredith for a walk about Circle land keeping an eye out for Spring growth and learning about the magical, medicinal and edible properties of plants. We will honor the land with respectful gathering techniques and directly learn how plants contribute to the betterment of human life.

Compost with Zephyr
Composting is a great way to keep food waste from the landfill and to generate nutrient dense fertilizer for your home garden. Join Zephyr as he discusses composting techniques and leads a service project to build up Circle’s composting area. Meet at the Summer Kitchen.

11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Lunch Break
Bring a sack lunch to enjoy on the land or at a picnic table behind the barn. Please consider reducing waste as you pack your lunch.

Circle Green for Earth Day Every Day with Rev. Selena Fox
Learn about Earth Day and some ways to live sustainably year round. Includes an overview of Circle Sanctuary's environmental endeavors and ways to get involved. In-person participants are encouraged to attend this live-streamed presentation during the lunch hour.

12:30 - 1:30 pm

Be Here Now in Nature with Rev. Dennis
This Earth Day let’s deepen our relationship with the rest of the natural world to improve our own health and well-being, as well as strengthen our resolve to engage in eco-activism to address the climate crisis unfolding before our very eyes. We will explore meditative techniques for deepening our connections with Nature, discuss the impact of such experiences, and engage in a mindful Spring-time journey on Circle Sanctuary land. Let’s Be Here Now in Nature Together!

Earth Day Kids
Come make some new friends as we make gigantic bubbles, and play Earth Day inspired games. This child-centered workshop is for kids attending with their adults and for those young at heart.

2 - 3 pm Earth Day Ceremony with Rev. Selena Fox and Others
Celebrate Earth Day, Honor Mother Earth, Attune to Sacred Land, and Commune with Nature with music, movement, and meditation in this multicultural and interfaith community ceremony, held outside in the Stone Circle weather permitting. Bring a small rock or crystal to donate to the ring of stones during the ceremony. If you wish, bring a rattle, drum, or other rhythm instrument to play.
3 - 3:30 pm Green Cemetery Tour with Rev. Selena Fox
Following the ceremony, learn about Greening Life’s End with a guided tour of Circle Cemetery, one of the first Green cemeteries in North America. Cemetery Tour will include a ceremonial honoring of the 15th Anniversary of the Veteran Pentacle Quest victory which resulted in pentacle images being included on gravestones issued by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
