Thread Magic

In keeping with the tradition of weaving magic with the Spring Equinox, we are going to be including as part of this year's Welcome Spring Ritual, a special form thread magic.

We are participating in an international, multicultural, and interreligious endeavor called the Thread Project. The focus of the project is on hope, healing, and world harmony.

As part of this we are asking that each Welcome Spring Festival participant bring a 1 to 3 foot long piece of thread, ribbon, piece of yarn, thin strip of cloth, or some other material of significance to you that we will connect together with other threads and energize during the ritual.

When you arrive at Circle there will be a pole with several strands for you to tie your threads on in the Temple Room. You may tie your threads on throughout the day but before the start of the Welcome Spring Ritual.

There will also be a Thread Project book where you can write what you contributed, its meaning, your name, and home state. Following the Welcome Spring Festival, Meadowen will be sending our threads to be joined with others from around the world. We would like to thank Meadowen for bringing this special project to our attention and for being willing to send our threads off to be weaved together with others to form fabric panels that will be displayed internationally, including at the United Nations.
