WELCOME SPRING!

March 21, 2026 10am - 5:30pm

at Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve
near Barneveld, WI

Coordinated by Lacie

Stirring the World Awake

Global Spring Traditions at the Turning of the Wheel

At the Spring Equinox, light and dark stand in balance, and the long sleep of winter begins to loosen. Across many cultures, this threshold moment is marked by simple acts of waking the land, blessing the waters, and tending the first stirrings of life.

Stirring the World Awake invites us to take part in that turning through breath, craft, ritual, shared nourishment, and playful participation. Together, we honor spring not as something that arrives on its own, but as something we help awaken through relationship and attention.

Registration is open for this on-site event!

Schedule of Events

10:00am Gate opens for arrivals. Resource shop will be open!

10:30am Welcome Circle with Lacie

We gather to open the day, introduce ourselves, and orient to the flow of workshops and activities ahead.  After brief announcements and housekeeping, we will mark the balance of light and dark with a short grounding to begin our time together.

11:00am Breath Magic & Equinox Balance with Rev. Minerva

As we stand squarely between the dark and the light, we will do some meditative energy work to help us keep balance as we move ahead on the wheel of the year. We will do thread work for the light, dark, and the in-between using our breath to add life to our thread talisman. This will help ground us in the here and now and let us embrace the magick of this time of year.

11:00am Song & Spring Craft - Family Programming in the farmhouse with Rev. Florence & Emily

Families will share a spring story time, learn a seasonal song to offer later in ritual, and create simple handmade instruments.  Through craft, music, and imagination, children are invited to take part in the awakening of the season in ways that are joyful and embodied.

12:15pm Cooperative Community Egg Hunt!

Our all-ages egg hunt emphasizes cooperation rather than competition.  Eggs will contain small, wrapped treats as well as the collaborative word and symbol elements that tie into the day's theme.  Bring your basket!

1:00pm Vegetarian Stone Soup:  A Communal Spring Meal

Participants are invited to bring a prepared vegetarian ingredient to contribute to a shared stone soup.  Give your ingredient to the cook upon your arrival.  As the soup simmers, we reflect on what each of us brings to the collective and how shared nourishment strengthens community.  This meal serves as our midday gathering and an embodied reminder that tending one another is part of tending the season.

Resource shop will open at 1:30pm until 2:00pm.

2:00pm Stirring the Circle with Truly

Circles are both basic and fundamental to western magical practice, which can lead them to be taken for granted.  Join Truly for a conversation about creating circles and raising power inside of them, that takes a winding path through Anthropology, Cognitive Science, and Western Occultism.

2:00pm Waking the Land & Energy in Motion - Family Programming in the farmhouse with Rev. Florence & Emily

Families begin outdoors, using their handmade instruments to greet the land and stir the season awake through sound and movement.  Indoors, children will explore a gentle yoga story, simple breath practice, and playful energy awareness activities that invite them to notice balance between earth and sky within their own bodies.

3:00pm Break  - Resource Shop will be open.

Wake yourself up!  Stretch, hydrate, move around or even take a quick walk to Brigid's Spring!  Enjoy the land!

3:30pm Blessing of the Hands:  Honoring the Work of Spring with Lacie

Across traditions, spring is marked by gestures of cleansing and dedication.  We gather to honor our hands as instruments of tending, creating, mending, planting, and caring.  Through simple words and symbolic blessing, we awaken our hands for the work of the coming season.

4:30pm Welcome Spring Closing Ritual with Rev. Becky Malke

Now that our hands have been charged with the energy to lead the work ahead, we will close the day by recognizing the balance of light and dark and by honoring the winter Slavic goddess Morana as she steps back to allow spring to come forth. We, too, will step forward into the light by releasing all that we've been holding on to this winter. Our final release will be done with the help of the children who will lead us in song with their voices and instruments.

5:30pm Clean-up and Final Departures

The day is not done until the last task is complete.  Teamwork helps builds our community so please join in with the volunteer staff and help with take down and clean-up before you journey home!
