11:00am Welcome to Circle with Morningstar: an introduction to Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve
11:30am Origin, Lore, and Magickal Making of Scarecrows with MoonFeather: scarecrows can be found throughout time and cultures in literature, festivals, legends, art, theatre, poetry, movies, and even dancing in fields. Come learn about the origin of the Scarecrow as it began with live people dating back to 400 BCE when a Greek boy was said to be so ugly that he went to the fields to scare birds. Listen to the history and lore of the Scarecrow as it evolved across many cultures as Jack a Lent, Hodmedod, Tattie Bogie, Gally Wager, Straw Man, Straw Woman, Kakashis, Bootzamon, Bootzafrau, Wooden Witch, God of Vegetation of the Harvest Festival, to the current North American version of a dummy stuffed with straw. Be inspired as you learn what the horizontal, vertical, and intersection point on the cross of a Scarecrow mean and then magickally create your own variation of a Scarecrow to take home and scare crows! All craft supplies will be provided but please feel free to bring scissors, glue, and any other item you may want on your Scarecrow.
1:00pm Songs and Chants of the Season: Mabon with Windwalker and Dr. John: come learn and share songs and chants for Mabon. We will also sing chants and songs that can be used any time of year. Bring along your favorite chants and songs and your instruments. Listeners are also welcome. Open to all ages.
2pm Harvest Potluck Feast
4pm Fall Equinox Harvest Thanksgiving Ritual facilitated by Selena Fox & others: our community welcome of Fall includes a harvest thanksgiving, chanting, drumming, and meditation. Scarecrows created in the workshop will be energized.
