Coyote Run In Concert - Native Americans have long held the Coyote to be the trickster spirit the teacher that laughs at himself and that playful, mischievous spirit that crosses boundaries and cannot be held within any set of walls or rules. Celtic traditions are filled with tales of likewise playful, mischievous spirits that will not be constrained. When the early Celtic settlers came to this land and began to have discourse with the indigenous peoples, they tried to find common ground. Coyote often became that common ground as his spirit so aptly described the fairies, leprechauns and other sidhe people of the Celtic lands. So, Coyote Run is named as a band with Celtic inspiration and stylings, yet of decidedly eclectic tastes that will not be constrained by genre or style. Equally at home in front of 10,000 cheering fans at an international festival, or playing in concert halls; whether it be for 300 dedicated listeners in a folk music concert series, or 30 audience members in a lively pub setting, Coyote Run has created a truly magical sound and transcendent live show. The depth and complexity of their music is simply amazing, with poetry that reveals something new with each hearing, original music that interweaves seamlessly with traditional tunes, and energy that is simply non-stop. As was noted in Sing Out! Magazine recently, The Coyotes fascinate beyond their engrossing sound because of the nature of their songs...[the songs contain] all the right stuff: energy, intelligence, and memorable music. Coyote Run’s instrumentation spans a wide range with guitars, mandolins, bagpipes, dulcimer, electric bass, drum set, whistles, flute, trombones, djembe, bodhran, and didgeridoo all coming together to create a rich and ever-changing sound. Gaming as a Gateway to Faerie - Nerethel Solindas of Elvendrums I started my journey to a larger universe through the irresistible draw of role-playing games. For some, the act of role-playing speaks to the soul in a hidden, nearly unexplainable way. Perhaps it is the act of taking on the role of a character that shares traits with your spirit that you wish your physical body could also share. Maybe it’s the way numbers speak to you, translating themselves into more than just figures and statistics, - a visceral quality that brings a character concept to life. Or maybe it allows the shields you put up over the years to come down for a while, allowing your true self to shine through without restrictions. Role-playing and other games can act as physical gateways into a magical world. Some call it fantasy, others call it their own personal retreat from reality. I call it Faerie, and it is a place from which my soul calls, a place I retreat to from time to time. To me, the realm of Faerie is an ever-changing place, filled with endless potential, adventure, and magic. Come. Join me on my personal path to Faerie… Intended audience: Adults Teens |

Pagee Go Go In Concert - Pagee Go Go is a six-piece band that has an ongoing love affair with Brazilian music. They are a tight group with strong vocals, beautiful melodies, and a swinging percussion section. Born in the streets and courtyards of Rio de Janeiro and northeastern Brazil, the music is a blend of European song forms with African percussion. Infectious, upbeat Samba is Pagee Go Go's greatest passion, along with with Bossa Nova, the mellow younger sibling to Samba, and Forró, a style from the northeast of Brazil that sounds a little bit like Cajun music. The band now includes their own interpretation of some classic sambas, original songs (in English), and unique interpretations of classic American songs. It all starts with Pagee Go Go's two lead vocalists. Kristin Maxwell has a sweet, strong voice that alternately soars and whispers. Barry Treichel provides the compliment with his distinctly rhythmic style and powerful melodies. The string section includes the guitar and the cavaquinho. Guitarist Jeff Alexander studies the Brazilian and African guitar masters, and you can hear it in his masterful style. Chris Deisinger plays the cavaquinho, a small steel-stringed guitar that is the heart of Samba, and has created his own style based on his many years of musical experience. Reena Tyler and Marko Oles are the heartbeat percussion section playing a number of handheld instruments that hold down and embellish the samba groove, including the bass drum tantan, the pandeiro, cuica, and others. They combine to produce the intricate, swinging rhythm that drives the whole band, and puts the crowd on their feet! Intended audience: Adults Teens Tweens Children |

The objective of science is to learn about our universe and its principles for the betterment of society. Religion develops the interrelationships between people and between people and the devine. Philosophy strives using logic to understand the why of the universe, our place in the universe and the resolution of conflicts between science and religion. These poles are not always in balance especially when science upsets the tenets of religion, religion strives to strangle science and the philosopher would appear to satisfy neither. I will define each of the poles and discuss the struggle between them. This struggle provides the building blocks of an ethical society. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of the topics presented. Intended audience: Adults Teens |
