Veteran Pentacle Rights Initiative
Statement from Rev. Selena FoxGreetings,
I had planned to join you in person today, but Mother Nature had other plans. I am snowed in at my rural Wisconsin home.
However, I still join you today in words and spirit! Thank you for being part of this event and for your support of the Veteran Pentacle Quest.
The Pentacle is the emblem of belief for Wiccans and Pagans on related paths. I have been part of on-going efforts to have the Pentacle added to the list of emblems of belief that can be included on VA-issued memorial markers, headstones and plaques to honor deceased veterans.
During the ten years that the US Department of Veterans Affairs has kept the Pentacle pending, it has added emblems of belief to its list for six other religions and belief systems.
This decade long pattern of disregard, delay, and discrimination by the US Department of Veterans Affairs against Wiccan veterans and their families must stop. This sort of prejudice has no place within our nation and especially within our government.
I am thankful that the Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance is helping to increase public awareness about this important issue.
I am glad that all of you have made this public stand here today and are joining with others across the nation and around the world in support of the Veteran Pentacle Quest.
May we continue to work together so that there indeed will be Liberty and Justice for All!
