Call for the Salute by Selena Fox
I invite all the veterans that are here today, and those who are serving in active duty, but maybe have the day off, to come forth and stand here for a salute to Sgt. Patrick Stewart.

Remarks by Chaplain William Chrystal
This is a great honor to be here today.

I wear this uniform proudly. Proudly as Pat's Chaplain, but I'm also here as a Christian minister. One who believes that all faiths believe in the same Great Spirit, I think it was Red Cloud the Sioux who said there are many paths to the Great Spirit. And I think today we celebrate that in a wonderful and rich way. And the third way in which I am here today, is the way in which all of you are here as well, we're all Americans. And we realize that the freedoms that we have been bequeathed by the founders, are not necessarily always given to us by our government. And I'm here today very proudly as someone who realizes that there is still power in people who want to do the right thing.

And who commit themselves to it. But of all of us who are here today, I am flanked by two who have shown what power, what power individuals have.

Statements of Thanksgiving
Roberta Stewart:
First off I would like to go ahead and thank Sen. Reids office, who has been actively involved, and Susan has been a representative and attended most of our functions. and I just thank her and Sen. Reid's office for all that they've done upon the Hill.

Susan from Senator Harry Reid's office:
Hello everyone, again, thank you Roberta, thank you Selena, for allowing me to be here among you. Sen Reid wanted me to read a statement, his words. "This day is long overdue. Ever since Sgt. Stewart's death, his wife Roberta has worked to ensure he is properly recognized. I commend the Nevada office of Veteran Services for making it happen. All of our troops who sacrifice their lives, fighting for our country deserve nothing less than to be properly recognized. I will continue to work closely with the US Dept of Veteran's Affairs to be ensure that the issue is addressed at the Federal level."

And I would just like to say, I am personally, glad to be here just to be a witness on your path.

Roberta Stewart:
I would like to bring Nick Vanderpool up and thank Jim Gibbons, who'd made numerous phone calls and numerous meetings, and met with us also, and started the ball rolling on this entire quest. And Nick has been awesome with Gibbons office too, and I want them to know how sincerely thankful I truly am.

Nick Vanderpool from Rep. Jim Gibbons' office:
Well thank you for allowing us to be here. On behalf of Congressman Gibbons, this has been a quest, and Roberta has shown the strength of individual power as Selena spoke about. We had said from the very beginning, I remember standing in Rancho San Rafael, and telling her if there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate. And that call was made, and we did not want to let her down. We were constantly in contact with the VA. And we wanted to make sure that Sgt. Stewart was recognized.

Roberta Stewart:
My final thanks of course, is just to everybody, and of course, Governor Guinn. I am very proud of my entire State of Nevada who stood up for the Constitution of the United States, to lay Pat to rest. Tim Tetz, the Executive Director of the Veteran's Memorial Service, for promising me that he would lay Patrick to rest with the Pentacle. They kept their promise. All of them together, worked together, all Congressional offices, Senate, Governor, all agencies. The State of Nevada has truly stood up and made themselves known. And now we are the first ones to have a Pentacle, in the history of the United States.

Wiccan Blessing
The five pointed star represents Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit, in the Eternal circle of Love. Blessings of the Earth, and farewell to Sgt. Stewart's body, that served him well in this life. Blessings of the Sacred Air on this plaque, and on the memory of Sgt. Stewart. Blessings of the Sacred Fire, on this plaque, and on the memory of Sgt. Stewart. And the fire that claimed his life, let us transform that into the fire of liberty. The lights of liberty, that he died upholding. Blessings of the Sacred Water, on this plaque, and on the emotions that were part of Sgt. Patrick Stewart's life, farewell to your emotional body, that served you well in this life. Blessings of the Sacred Spirit, on this plaque, on this Pentacle, on the Spirit of Sgt. Patrick Stewart. While he is not with us in a body anymore, he is here in the way that he has touched each of us. He is here in his legacy.

Native American Blessing
We ask that you watch over this man's family. Watch over his plaque, his place of resting. Bring blessings to them.

First and last in all that we do, Great Spirit, we ask that you bless this man's family, bless his Spirit. Watch over them, bring them all that they need.

Jewish Blessing
Let the Glory of God be extolled. And Gods' great name be hallowed in the world, whose creation God willed. May God rule in our day, in our own lives, and in the life of all Israel. And let us say, Amen.

Christian Blessing
Let us pray, Eternal God, Heavenly Father, Great Spirit. We call you by many names. But we are one here today, as we dedicate this plaque. We thank you for your loving kindness, which is manifest to us in many ways, and grant us the courage to fight injustice where ever we find it. And we pray this in many different ways, but in one voice, Amen.

Closing
Officials at the The Department of Veteran's Affairs should have granted approval for the use of the Pentacle long ago. This fight was unnecessary, and it's not over yet. Americans United has filed the litigation, to force the VA to recognize the Pentacle for other Wiccans who have died in the service of their country. Liberty and Justice for all!

Liberty and Justice for all!
