Fire dance is your 3-day chance to trance out and let your soul be enhanced. More 'can’s' than 'cant’s' more rave than rant. But all healing and none of the dealing, unless it’s with your self and what you’re feeling. It’s caring and sharing and daring. It’s wearing whatever & hoping the weather will match it, or that it will even fit- with your seven layer outfit, that you can shed when the heat from the fire goes to your head. It’s letting go and holding on to one another, your soul sisters and brothers, giving your all, no matter how small. It’s laughter and tears and facing your fears, it’s spinning around ‘til the true you is found & the sound of the drums cuts what’s kept you bound & when you break down everyone’s circled ‘round. They surround you as a ball of love, voices carrying your pain above, up in the smoke that before made you choke. It’s being fully awake and energized at 2 a.m. under starry skies; it’s looking at the twinkle in everyone’s eyes. It’s eating junk food like at a slumber party, and then washing it down with warm lemon balm tea. You can rest in your nest or meditate when it feels like it’s getting late. Or it’s getting early so you feel a little squirrelly, and that’s when you let your dervish be whirly. It’s learning new things and burning the old, its listening to stories that need to be told. It’s holding space and holding hands and it’s dancing again when you can barely stand. But the drums make you shake it and your spirit awakens and it seems that the more you move, the more energy you take in. It’s being in the dark of yourself in the dark of the night, then say can you see, by the dawn’s early light? When daylight comes the sky gets brighter and our hearts get lighter, and then 'You Are My Sunshine' as if all night long we’d been drinking wine. It’s eating breakfast & then going to bed; it’s waking up with ten of those songs in your head. It’s being inspired & being really, really tired. It’s unity and community. It’s an opportunity to just be free. It’s a healing mix of love and magick and alchemy, and shamanism, and nature and ancient wisdom. It’s a tribal thing that’s indescribable; words fall short, even for this scribe of sorts. You just have to see it with your own eyes, because it is next to impossible to describe.
