CIRCLE Magazine goes to several thousand Circle Network subscribers individuals, groups, and resource centers. In addition, it is distributed through a large number of distributors, bookstores, and centers, and is in many libraries. Readership is estimated at 10,000. Most of the readers are in the USA, but there are also readers in Canada, Australia, Japan, and a variety of other countries in Europe, Africa, and elsewhere. Based on feedback we have received from past advertisers, some ads in CIRCLE Magazine have generated more response than similar ads run in other Pagan publications.

Specifications for Display and Classified Advertising

Advertiser's Responsibility: By submitting an ad of any kind to us for our paper, you assume the responsibility to respond to every inquiry generated by your ad in a prompt and honorable manner. In addition, you assume total liability for the contents of your ad. If you are advertising a newsletter, book, recording, catalog, or other publication, you must furnish Circle with sample copies before we can run your ad. Stores should send general literature about themselves as well as any catalogues. Anyone advertising consulting services (e.g. Tarot Readings, Astrological Charts, Counseling) must provide a resume and 3 references. Anyone advertising direct or at-distance training should provide descriptions of curriculum and instructional methods (e.g., policy manuals, representative lessons, cost schedules, etc.) as well as the names and addresses/phone numbers for 3 students who have completed the course of instruction. If we ask for other kinds of samples and/or for other information, it is your responsibility to answer promptly to help keep possible publication of your ad from delay. If you want your samples returned, you must specify this and include a self-addressed envelope with ample postage for return. Ads in the "Spiritual Friendship Services" section are meant to facilitate connecting with others of similar spiritual interests. We will accept ads seeking companionship and life partners, but will not accept the kinds of sexually explicit ads found in some publications. Please note that we scrutinize very closely advertising for "psychic readings" and similar services, as well as Spiritual Friendship Services ads.

Publisher's Prerogative: We reserve the right to refuse any ad we deem not appropriate for our magazine. We also reserve the right o request samples and additional information before we run an ad. In addition, we reserve the right to inform our readers when an advertiser fails to carry out the responsibilities outlined above. We reserve the right to void all existing ad arrangements with any advertiser who proves to be irresponsible or, due to other circumstances, can no longer provide what is advertised. Magical Marketplace is reserved for the advertising of goods related to Paganism and Magic. Services should be advertised in the "Goods & Services" section of the classified ads. All display ads will be grouped together in the Magical Marketplace section. Advertising policies and rates are subject to change without advance notice.

Deadlines: We must receive ads and required samples by the following general dates to run in the issues specified. Actual deadlines may be 2-3 weeks later, so refer to a current issue of CIRCLE Magazine for specific dates:

Display Advertising

Ads must pertain to books, recordings, tools, or other goods of a Magical/Pagan nature.
All display ads are scanned into computer files. Due to the unique features of this technology, the following conditions must be followed when submitting ad copy:
- All display ads must be camera ready, and in black and white copy.
- Ad copy pasted on graph paper will not be accepted.
- You can submit an ad on computer disc in Tiff format, or as an attachment to an email message, for the Macintosh (300 dpi), but always include paper copy as well.
Your ad must conform to the sizes specified. Your ad is printed at original size. The biggest mistake that most advertisers make is trying to squeeze too much material in the ad. We suggest that text type in your ad not be smaller than 8 point (10 point or more is better) in camera ready copy to assure good readability.
We have five different ad sizes as listed below. An ad must not exceed the dimensions listed for its category (including room for a border). An ad can be smaller than the specified dimensions provided that payment in full for that category is submitted with the ad. Please note that business cards do not fit the economy square size. Ads which do not conform to size specifications and/or are not in final camera-ready copy may be returned for modification before printing and could delay publication of an ad.
A complimentary copy of the issue in which your ad appears will be sent to you shortly after publication, along with an ad renewal notice or statement of your ad contract status. We will keep your ad on file in our offices after it is published, unless you specifically request that we return it to you and you have included a self-addressed envelope with ample postage for return.
Circle advertises a number of products in CIRCLE Magazine. Ads for the same products as those listed in CIRCLE Magazine will not be accepted for the Magical Marketplace or the Classifieds.

Display Ad Dimensions and Rates

Ads must fit one of the following sizes. If either dimension exceeds the maximum size for the ad category, the ad will be returned for revision, or reduced in size if workable.

A. Half page: 7 1/2" wide x 4 7/8" tall $350.00

B. 1/3 Square: 4 7/8" wide x 4 7/8" tall $215.00

C. 1/6 Horizontal: 4 7/8" wide x 2 3/8" tall $105.00

D. 1/6 Vertical: 2 3/8" wide x 4 7/8" tall $105.00

E. Economy Square: 2 3/8" wide x 2 3/8" tall $55.00
Please Note: These are the only ad sizes presently available.

Contract Discount for Display Ads

If you wish to advertise in CIRCLE Magazine for a year, you can choose to go on a display ad contract with us for three consecutive issues. By doing this, you will get your ad run for free in the fourth issue. Payment for the three issues must be received in full prior to the first insertion in order to qualify for the fourth ad free. New ad copy can be submitted as long as it is the same size as paid for in the contract.

Classified Advertising

Submit your ad exactly as you want it published. Include your name and address as you want them to appear. Be sure to read the "Advertiser's Responsibility" section on the first page of this brochure, especially when submitting Contacts ads.

Type, print, or legibly write your ad copy. We are not liable for errors made in published ads due to illegible copy submitted to us.

Specify which of the Classified Sections you prefer your ad to run under.

Spiritual Friendship Services Goods & Services

Publications Groups & Events
Indicate how many consecutive issues you want your ad to run in and include payment in full for insertions in all issues prior to publication in the first issue. If you plan to run the same classified ad for a year, you can choose to go on a classified ad contract with us for three consecutive issues. Payment for three issues results in your ad appearing in the fourth issue free. Tear sheets are provided for classified ads, but complimentary copies are not.

Classified Ad Rates:
Spiritual Friendship Services: This section is for individuals seeking contacts with others sharing similar interests. Listings will be featured for $10 which includes name, address, and up to a 20 word description of interests and types of contacts you are seeking. Anything over 20 words is $1 per word. Requests for companionship will be accepted, but overt solicitations for sex will not.

Other Sections: $1 per word with first two words set in bold at no extra charge. $.25 extra per additional word to be set in bold. Be sure to figure cost of name and address as well as description in determining total payment for the ad. Post Office box and number count as two words. City, state, and zip code count as two words. Email address counts as two words. URL address counts as four words.
