Networking for Haiti Relief

On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck just south of Port-au-Prince, Haiti causing widespread devastation. Please send healing and support to those in Haiti and elsewhere impacted by this earthquake.

(1) Stay informed. Some news sites:

(2) Donate money. Make certain the money you send is to an established and reputable organization that already has had an effective and helpful presence in Haiti. Here are several good options:

American Red Cross - Donate at their site online, or alternately, text HAITI to 90999 to give $10 to the Red Cross, the charge for which will be on your next cellphone bill.

UNICEF
Food for the Poor - This Roman Catholic charity has been feeding the poor in Haiti for many years and has had interfaith participation, including by Circle Sanctuary minister Paula Johnson who was in Haiti last year with others from Lynn University.

(3) Send Spiritual Support. Include blessings for those impacted by the earthquake in Haiti in your meditations, prayers, and ceremonies. Join in interfaith events. Hold events and ceremonies specifically focused on Haiti relief.
