Beltane Festival 2005
FRIDAY, April 29
10 am Arrivals begin
Noon Magical Merchant Faire opens on the Green - Visit booths with a variety of Pagan goods, including books, clothing, jewelry
Noon - 9 pm Silent Auction & Raffle Items Collection & Display - Drop off items for the silent auction & raffle.
12:30 pm Welcome to Circle Sanctuary with Morningstar
1 pm Nature Walk with naturalist Reed Cockrell - Learn about the plants, creatures, and biodiversity of Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve.
2 - 3 pm Ann Moura Book Signing
3:30 pm Beltane Renewal Meditation with Selena Fox - Connect with the magic of Beltane at one of the sacred sites on Circle Land for personal and planteary renewal. Location to be announced.
5 - 6 pm Dinner
6:45 pm Festival Welcome with Morningstar
7 - 8:15 pm Fairy Charm Bag Workshop with Ann Moura - Learn the basics of making charm bags and how to make and work with Fairy charm bags for attracting the presence and aid of the Fairies. Supplies will be provided for up to sixty participants to create their own charm bags.
8:30 - 9 pm Beltane Labyrinth Introduction with Angie Buchanan - An overview of Labyrinth walking and a guide to walking the Beltane Labyrinth at the festival.
9 pm Opening Ritual and Labyrinth Lighting Ritual - to bless the festival and its participants and to honor the Fey. It will be followed by the lighting and blessing of the Labyrinth. Bring a drum rattle or other rhythm instrument, plus a candle lantern or candle in a jar. Wear ritual garb if you like.
10 pm Labyrinth Walking - Candlelight labryinth will be available for walking throughout the night.

SATURDAY, April 30
7 am Nature walk with Reed - Enjoy the early morning bird music and forage for wild foods.
8 am Open for Arrivals
8 - 9 am Breakfast
9 am - 5 pm Magical Merchant Faire on the Green
9 - 9:30 am Newcomers Meeting with Amra - Introduction to Circle and its Land. Open to those new to Circle and old timers alike.
10 am Priestess Ordination of Windwalker - All are invited to this ordination rite that is the culmination of Windwalker's priestess training.
11:30 am - 1 pm Beltane Court & Oak Apple Morris Dancers - Selection and crowning of the May Queen, May King, and Beltane Couple, followed by performances of English traditional dance by the Oak Apple Morris Dancers.
1 - 2 pm Lunch
2:30 pm Reading the Tarot with Ann Moura - Learn about the historial roots of the Tarot, the evolution of certain cards over the centuries, and how the changing imagery in various decks can affect a reading as well as reading methods.
4 - 4:30 pm

Ann Moura Booksigning. Following her talk, Ann will sign books. Her books will be for sale at the Circle resources shop.

Maypole Dancers Practice - For those who have signed up for Maypole dancing in the Beltane Ritual.
4 - 5 pm Children's Circle - Children of all ages are invited to take part in tis Children's Circle that includes a Children's Maypole, snacks, and play.
5 - 6 pm Beltane Ritual Led by Windwalker and held around the Maypole, this main festival ritual includes drumming, chanting, invocations, Beltane Baby Blessing, Maypole dancing, and Community celebration. This rite will be followed by leaping the Beltane Balefire for good luck.
6:30 - 8 pm Beltane Potluck Feast
8 - 8:30 pm "Percussion Playground" with Helen Bond - Bring your bells, rattles, drums and other music makers - This is a workshop to get some basics down for how to fit and what to do in a drum circle. Great prep for our Drum Circle later this evening!
8:30 - 9 pm Raffle Drawing & Silent Auction Winners
9 - 11 pm Drumming Circle with Helen Bond - Experience the natural rhythms and playfulness of the ancient heartbeat of the drum. Awaken your creativity and join in the magic of this Community rhythm circle.
All Night Labyrinth Walking - The candlelight labyrinth will be availbe for sacred walks.

SUNDAY, May 1
8: 30 - 9:30 am Breakfast
9 am Arrivals for the Day begin
9 am - 2 pm Magical Merchant Faire
9 am - 10 am The Call of the Fey: Divinatory Work with Faery Energy with Drake Spaeth: In this workshop Drake encourages the participation of interested volunteers in divinatory readings through simple, three-card spreads using the Faeries Oracle Cards by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth. He will demonstrate how the largely misunderstood "People of Peace" invite and challenge us to come into greater self knowledge and spiritual awareness, mirroring for us light and shadow in our own psyche and illuminating a path of dynamic balance of polarities.
Noon Handfasting of Vic and Beth Pagan wedding conducted by Selena Fox. All are invited.
1:30 pm Closing Festival Ritual Ritual led by Morningstar gives thanks as well as blessings festival participants on their journey home.
2 pm Lunch
3 pm Clean-up & Departures








Items to Bring




  • Contribution for potluck feast to feed at least two dozen. For details, please see our Potluck Guidelines.
  • Your own cup to use for drinks at meals and other times.
  • Camping Gear: tent, sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress, flashlight, water jug, towel, biodegradable soap and shampoo, personal toiletries, sungear, raingear, cold weather gear, insect and tick repellent.
  • A lawn chair, mat, or blanket for outdoor seating. Many activities will be outside.
  • Ritual garb and/or brightly colored clothes, as well as a crown of flowers or greens for your head, or bells for your feet, to wear during the Beltane ritual. (optional)
  • Drum,rattle,or other rhythm instrument. (optional)
  • Your favorite Tarot deck for Ann Maura's workshop (optional)
  • Pagan/magical item(s) to donate to the Saturday evening raffle and/or to the silent auction. (optional)
  • A stone to give away to the Stone Circle. (optional)
  • Dried herbs or other biodegradable offering for closing ritual.(optional)
  • Gifts are not required for Windwalker at her Ordination on Saturday, for Vic and Beth for their Handfasting on Sunday, or for Valen's Baby Blessing. Should you wish to bring something for one or more of these passages, please contact Selena.
